I started making rugs about 10 years ago. They take an awful lot of time, but what else are you going to do while watching the box? Play with your phone?
As you can see, my preference is to take small objects and blow them up really big. I started with the Pantone swatch (my employer's corporate colour at the time) and the moved onto the ruler.
Things got much more interesting when I submitted the Travel Ticket to Grayson's Art Club on Channel 4 and had it chosen as one of his picks of the week. At the Private View of the show's accompanying exhibition in Bristol, I got chatting to Philippa Perry who declared her love of the rug. She and Grayson then bought it.
The Sainsbury's Receipt (Did you keep your receipt?) and the Lottery Ticket (It might be you!) are for sale. Prices on request.
My latest rug is based on the Ordnance Survey Landranger map of Ewhurst, Surrey. Obviously it's a part of the world that is only relevant to those who live there (hence its title - I live here), so I'm always open to take on commissions. Do get in touch if you'd like more details.
